The BETA is recruiting an intern for the TYPOGRAPHE project funded by the INRAE XRISQUES metaprogramme.
The aim of this internship proposal is to contribute to the development of innovative tools for evaluating bark beetle control strategies at the forest plot level.
Internship project: Based on the materials already collected and/or developed as part of the project (literature, pre-existing modelling elements), the work envisaged as part of the internship will consist of :
- drawing up a bibliographical summary ;
- building a module designed to assess the economic impact of bark beetles for a forest owner;
- carrying out simulation exercises based on different climate scenarios (drought, increased temperatures), different plot characteristics (forest stand composition), different forest management methods (thinning regimes, diversification of forest species) and considering different bark beetle control strategies (laissez-faire, preventive and curative measures);
- prioritising these control strategies on the basis of their economic efficiency.
Profile required: Given the interdisciplinary nature of the project, the recruitment profile (Masters 2 level or end of engineering studies) is open to all students working in a variety of disciplines such as economics, forestry sciences, ecology, applied mathematics or computer science, etc. who are motivated to open up to other disciplines.
Duration: 6 months
Starting date: March 1st or April 1st, 2025
