The BETA and Silva Joint Research Unit are recruiting an intern as part of the PEPR FORESTT programme.
Internship title: Concepts and action strategies in a context of uncertainty. The sustainability of the forestry planning model in the face of climate change.
Project: How can these solutions be implemented from a technical and regulatory point of view, taking into account resource constraints? How does climate change force forestry planning to move beyond its pre-existing framework? What are the possible solutions/alternatives for repositioning the concept and practice in relation to the constraints posed?
The mission will involve exploring all of these questions through the triptych of concept-regulation-practice of forest planning. The aim will be to identify both the constraints generated by the interaction of these 3 poles, as well as the elements of knowledge they provide.
To meet these objectives, the trainee will be required to:
- Carrying out a survey of practitioners and academics to identify the constraints weighing on the development of planning in the above context, as well as the avenues envisaged.
- Formalise a summary of existing knowledge and the state of the literature in relation to the issues raised.
Skills required:
- Organisational and analytical skills
- Ability to conduct and analyse interviews
- Aptitude for systematic reviews / state of the art
- Mastery of literature review tools (Web Of Sciences, Lens, Scopus, etc.) and bibliographic
(e.g. Zotero) - Ability to work in an interdisciplinary context
- Sensitivity to / knowledge of the socio-ecological system
- Knowledge of the concept of forest planning is a plus
- Ability to work independently
Length of internship: 6 months
Starting date: February or March 2025
Place of internship: Nancy. Travel will be required for interviews, particularly to Pau and Montpellier.
