Title: “Skills Shortage in EU Labour Markets: Cluster Analysis”

Abstract: EU labour market is undergoing deep structural changes. The working-age population is expected to markedly decrease by 18% in 2070 according to Eurostat. The available labour supply is unable to match labour market requirements. Thus, the mobilization of resident workers’ full potential will be insufficient to contain the changing demographics and labour market frictions. In addition, EU companies have difficulties finding suitably skilled workers. The aim of this paper is to analyze labour market dynamics and trends in EU. (dis)similarities between EU labour markets were captured using unsupervised machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering). We also identified the determinants of skills shortage per NACE Rev.2 sector.
