On Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December 2024 in Saint-Dié, BETA organised the second ‘off-site’ workshop for second-year doctoral students.
On this occasion, 12 of our doctoral students enrolled in the second year of their thesis were able to compare their work in progress with the kind eyes of the various lecturers and researchers present, members of the laboratory’s management team and the participants’ thesis supervisors. Constructive discussions were held on the development of models and the methodological choices made by the participants, which will undoubtedly help young researchers to improve their articles and projects.
In addition to their various presentations, the doctoral students also attended two talks on data management and communication prepared by BETA support staff.
At the end of their stay, the participants were invited to take stock of the two days. The initiative was unanimously welcomed, as was the standard of the presentations. However, some suggestions for improvement were made, such as the introduction of a writing workshop, more attention to feedback on the form of presentations and public speaking, and the addition of a presentation on the job market.
BETA would like to thank all the participants for their contribution to the success of this event: Julie Audureau, Lucie Briquet, Marielle Brunette, Estelle Campenet, Philippe Delacote, Jean-Baptiste Delaye, David Desmarchelier, Youssef El Yaakoubi, Mehdi Guelmamen, Frédéric Hammerer, Xiaomei He, Herrade Igersheim, Ioannis Kalientzidis, Baptiste Le Masle, Tara L’Horty, Alexandre Mayol, Maëlle Meziani, Alexandra Niedzwiedz, Véronique Schaeffer, Yamina Tadjeddine, Marion Tosolini and Arnaud Wittmer.
